Drawing Nigh to God

The Connecting Link....The Certainty of an Answer
When you read the Bible, do you believe that God means what He says, and that every promise is meant for you personally? Do you believe this - That if you have faith and doubt not, "all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"? This is one of God's exceeding great and precious promises." It is limitless.
In His farewell meeting with he disciples on the eve of His death, Jesus sought to impress upon them the importance of prayer and of believing that God would answer (John 14:13,14). Seven times, in almost the same words, He urged them to pray; and each time He assured them that their prayers would be answered.
Why did Jesus feel it necessary to tell us over and over that our prayers will be answered? Would not once have been enough? Perhaps it was because He knew how natural it would be for us to doubt; or how easy it would be for us, like the Pharisees, to pray vague, pointless prayers as a matter of Christian duty without expecting an answer. What an incentive to faithfulness in prayer we should find these words of Jesus, "Ask, and ye shall receive"! If the answer to our prayer is delayed, let us continue to pray.
"The earnest prayer of contrite souls will be lodged by the throne; and God will answer these prayers in His own time if we cling to His arm by faith."
Amen.
