Divinely Guided... By His Word

"Thy word...is a light unto my path." -Psalms 119:105

Two missionaries went to Mussau, a small island of the South Seas. There they found a man in the depths of degradation. Chewing of the betel nut and smoking were general practices. Under those most unfavorable circumstances the missionaries began their work of teaching the Word of God. Within ten short months such a marked transformation had taken place that a representative of the British Government there said, " A miracle has been performed. What have you done to bring about such a change?" The power that transformed the lives of those natives of Mussau was not in the missionaries but in the Word of God. The word as "a light" guided them into a new way of life.

Do we need to go to distant lands to see lives transformed by God's Word? No, they are all around us. A close friend of mine who once bore the unmistakable evidence that she loved sin and hated righteousness came in contact with one who tactfully led her to study the Bible. As she read its sacred
pages she heard the voice of God speaking to her sou. Soon her way of living became hateful to her; those whose company she had once loved no longer attracted her; she renounced her former pleasures and found her highest joy in Christian service. The whole course of her life was changed in her heart. Her friends marveled at the amazing transformation, for now she bore the unmistakable evidence that she hated sin and loved righteousness. The secret of this change was that she had become acquainted with the Author of the Bible and He was guiding her in the way of everlasting life.

"O lovely Hero of the Sacred Book,
How can I read and not be stirred anew?
I find your holy life on every page-
The truth has made me fall in love with you!"
_Nathaniel Krum
