Supreme Love......The Reward of Honor

"Them that honour me I will honour."_
1 Samuel 2:30

In New Zealand the rata vine fastens itself around large trees. Although it appears attractive and harmless, eventually it crushes out the life of the tree and takes its shape and likeness. So, likewise, sin appears attractive and harmless, but it is dangerous and deceptive. No matter how strong a Christian may be , if he voluntarily places himself where worldliness can wrap itself around him, it will crust out his spiritual life and leave nothing but its shroud. Sinful habits and practices of the world have taken the spiritual life of millions of professed Christians.
We must beware of places and companionships that dull our spirituality. Our interests cannot be half with the world and half with Christ. This is what Jesus meant when He said, "No man can serve two masters."
Moses renounced the royal court and the treasures of Egypt, "choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season." Can any doubt that he chose wisely? We read his name on heavens honor roll recorded in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews. If we choose Christ above worldly pleasures and advantages, our lives will be an honor to Him, and we shall be honored by Him.

"There's a law that I am learning
That is helping me each day;
That our God sends something better
For the things He takes away.
While some sorrow presses on us,
And we feel that loss severe,
He will follow up this heartache
With a blessing, never fear."
