A Season and A Time

Today on my way to work, I was thinking about how hot it has been around here. Last year we did not even hit the century mark till the middle or later part of July. What a nice summer we had... Well it is a totally different story this year - I can not tell you an exact number but I can say it has been quite a bit of them. Today was no different. Today my husband met me and my MIL in town and he said his temp thing on his truck said 105 - about an hour later when I got to my car - it was saying 104.

Anyway back to this morning- I was thinking about when just months ago we had gotten a lot of rain(hardly any for the last couple of months though) and how it was kind of dreary for days. Then I was thinking about how we had snow and it was COLD. And again dreary out. I was thinking during those dreary days - the hot sun of the summer months would be so refreshing just every now and then. And thinking how cool it would be to be able to have some cold days here and there and some hot days here and there.

Well then I started thinking how in the Bible it says that there is a time for this and a time for that:

To everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born, and
a time to die;
a time to plant, and
a time to pluck up
that which is planted;

A time to kill, and
a time to heal;
a time to break down, and
a time to build up;

A time to weep, and
a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and
a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and
a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and
a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and
a time to lose;
a time to keep, and
a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and
a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and
a time to speak;

A time to love, and
a time to hate;
a time of war; and
a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

It seems to me that God like things in an orderly fashion. And things may be hot now but they will not be hot for ever. Just like things in your life may be tough or really hard but that won't last for ever either. There is a time to weep and a time to laugh. This too shall pass. And something very important to remember is that no matter what "time" you are going through, God is there ready and willing to comfort you and strengthen you. Run to Jesus and rest in His loving arms. :o)

  1. Beautiful, Lisa! Thank you for sharing! You will not believe me, but honestly--I was thinking of this EXACT passage yesterday. Alison has been so wishing that she could do all the same things that big brother is doing, and I was thinking of this verse and how I should look it up and have her memorize it--that maybe it would help her. And then here you post it on your blog! :)
