Supreme Love.....Supreme Friendship

Of the more than two hundred names and titles that applied to Christ, none is more endearing than "Friend." Solomon spoke of Him as the One "altogether lovely," and said, "This is my friend." He was a friend of sinners. Though we cannot talk to Him face to face, as did the disciples, our friendship with Him may be just as real. We cannot confide in Him without feeling Him near. He is interested in our mistakes, our sorrows, our hopes, and our plans. If we seek His counsel in everything, we are bound to succeed in life.

It is natural for us to speak of an earthly friend whom we love. Yet how much greater reason have we to talk of our heavenly Friend. His daily mercies and the multiplied evidences of His loving kindness cannot be summed up. Then should it not be natural for us to make His friendship supreme, and constantly to seek for ways of expressing our love?

If Thou dost need a hand today
To clasp another hand on life's rough way,
Take mine, dear Lord, take mine.

"If Thou art needing feet to tread
In paths where sin to woe is wed,
Use mine, dear Lord, use mine.

"If Thou art needing lips today,
For words that help and heal, to say,
Fill mine, dear Lord, fill mine.

"If Thou art needing eyes to see
When souls begin to stray from Thee,
Fit mine, dear Lord, fit mine.

"But cleanse, dear Lord and purify,
And then each talent sanctify,
Of mine, dear Lord, of mine."

  1. It is amazing that we are friends with our wonderful Jesus. Everytime I hear the song, "I am a friend of Gods" it gives me chills. I am so grateful for the intimate relationship we are allowed to have with our Creator.

    Thanks for this beautiful reminder.
Much love to you my friend. :)
