Small Stones

So very sorry I have not been posting much- It was a very busy week end and when I wasn't busy I was very tired since I had stayed up way too late Saturday night and did not get much sleep.

Today is my birthday! And it has turned out to be a quite busy one - but a good one.

This morning my sister was telling me about a friend of hers that had a stomach surgery and had lost 22 pounds in less than a month. How depressing is that to me - someone who has been working towards getting healthier and losing weight for 3 months and can only claim to have lost 11 pounds. But after I heard more of the story I realized that even though my weight loss is slow it is being done in a healthy way and will hopefully stay off.

This lady was given a list of vitamins that she had to take - since she would not be able to get nutrition from food- the way God intended things to work - she HAS to take vitamins. Her surgery was November 5th and has already lost 22 pounds. Sounds great - right? Well she has only been able to drink water and Gatorade and take her vitamins. I'm sorry but that is not healthy at all...in fact it has to be very hard on one's body. This lady tried to drink a protein shake - only to throw it up. So as much as losing 22 pounds in less than three weeks sounds great - I think I will pass. I saw this great quote on Facebook:

“The wo/man who moves a mountain
begins by carrying away small stones.”
- Confucius, The Analects

It had a great photo with the quote but I could not get the photo. Anyway this quote really sums up tacking large job- like losing weight. We can do it when we do it step by step..small stones at a time. It's not by boulders that we are able to easily move a mountain - it is small stones here and there.

Anyway I am so thankful to be celebrating another year of life and am looking forward to where this year will lead. God has been faithful along the journey so far and I am even more convinced now that He is not only in control but that He will never leave me nor forsake me. He'll do the same for you. :)

You are losing weight the healthy way. You may not see 22 pounds fall off over night, but your health and your body thank you for doing it carefully and purposefully.
Love to you birthday girl!! <3
