Gardening Woes

Well I have been quite disappointed in my garden this year. When we fenced off 1/3 of the back yard for the chickens - it meant that we would have to move our garden area.

We used to have an above ground swimming pool, but sold it last year. When they put the pool in they had to dig out dirt in order to make it level. So there are some places that are about 6 inches all the way to maybe a foot or more deep. We had decided that we wanted to put the garden where the pool had been. We had wanted to bring some dirt in and a tractor to square it up and get it ready for a garden. But this last year we got so much rain that we were not able to do any of that. So we had to just use containers. I already had some "earthboxes" and so I used those along with a few other containers. Well I don't know if I just don't understand how to use them, but it just doesn't seem to be working. I don't know if I am over watering or under watering the plants. Or maybe there is another problem. I really don't know.

I guess with all the construction going on in the back yard and the big mess that comes along with that - has been overwhelming to me. So I am just discouraged about my plants not doing any better.

I have decided that I am going to get my gardening books out and do more research on gardening and see what I can come up with. I am hoping with some help I can grow a green thumb.

  1. Hey there Lisa,
Howdy from one Texan to another!

Great things take time so sit back and let things happen. Before long you'll have a lovely garden and it'll be worth the wait.
