Treasure Found...It's Been a While

It has been a long time since I have found a treasure while shopping at thrift stores, but today I got lucky!!
I went to a favorite thrift shop in a little town near my house and guess what I found?!
A Corelle Platter!!!
It is called Old Town Blue pattern.
And it only cost me a dollar! Yep- just $1.00!

About 14 years ago or so my husband bought me 2 sets of Corelle Blue Heart dishes. I love them. He also got me the platter that went with the set, not too much longer after getting me the dishes. That began my love for these platters.

My Mother in law had a few platters- plastic ones, not cheap plastic - I mean the stuff that like plates were made of (which by the way- I love too). Maybe they still do but who knows.

And I know you have all seen this one- I got it not too long ago- I am thinking I paid $2.00 for it. I tried to go back and find the post about it but could not - at least not in the last year or so. So it has been a while since I have found a platter.

Anyway - this one is called Indian Summer. I have it placed in the middle between my two blue and white platters. The colors are very fall like so I will be using this platter the next couple of months.

Can't wait till I find another Corelle platter!

I think I posted this link last time but I think it is so cool - I wanted you to be able to check it out too! It is a link to the discontinued patterns that Corelle has. Enjoy!

(these photo's have been borrowed from postings on the Internet- my camera is not taking good photos right now, sorry)

Whose Got Great Taste?

Well apparently me and my husband do. And how do we know this?
Well every time we go to the Antique Mall- the things that we both love are usually very pricey.
So we usually leave the Mall empty handed.

But I usually try to at least take photos so I can enjoy them later.

This last visit to the Antique Mall was no different. We found an awesome piece of furniture that I wanted to share with you all.

It is a writing desk that has a bookcase on the other side of it. If I had more money and more space in my house - I would have loved to have brought this piece of furniture home with me.

Another thing I found was a cute salt and pepper set.

I did not buy this set either - if it is still there another time that we go - I may buy them. They were a little pricey at $10.00 but they were fine china or something like that written on the bottom of them.

This set would fit in my collections great because,  I really like the smaller salt and pepper sets.
I have some bigger ones in my collection but eventually I will find new owners for them. That way they can bless someone else as much as they blessed me, but until then they will stay in my collection.

Anyway like I said if Jason and I ever wonder about out tastes- all we have to do is go to the Antique Mall and we are reminded of how good that taste is - well when expensive =good.

So we left empty handed.

But I had much better luck on a trip to Goodwill a few days later.

I found a stack of 4 tupperware bowls that I love. I already had some but some of them were wearing down, still useable but you can tell they have seen better days. I had hoped to some day find some at Goodwill. I can not afford to buy tupperware full price.

I borrowed the above photo from an ended ebay auction. I wanted you guys to get to see what I was talking about. Now I am hoping to come across some of the plates that I love- also made by Tupperware.

Set of 5 Royal Blue Tupperware Snack Plates

I borrowed the photo as well- but my plate like this are looking a lot like these. I LOVE these plates. They are not very big but I love them.

Oh the bowls I found were only 50 cents a piece! That's a great deal! Hoping to find some plates at a great deal!! If I do - I will sure let you know about it. You can count on that! :o)

Some Fun Finds

On Wednesday I had not planned on going any where. Then I was looking through the Albertson's circular and they had a few deals that along with some coupons I had- would make it worth the trip. Well since I would be in town then a trip by the local GW would be in order. Well as I was catching up with my friends on facebook - I noticed where a friend said that there was a large garage sale in the same town and actually only a few blocks from GW. So I decided to add the garage sale to my list of things to do while I was out.

I found something that I thought was cool. And old phone - It is a Radio Shack - I found a similar one on Internet and they said it was from 1982. You can't see it very good but in the center - there is a photo of a Victorian lady. Well I guess her head only. We have a few vintage phone things on a shelf in our sun room - so when I can get the ladder in there I will be putting this phone up next to that stuff. Oh and the best part - it was only $2.00!
I also found an awesome Tupperware container with it's lid or $1.00! I LOVE to find Tupperware pieces - that are in good shape and cheap.

Next stop -Goodwill! As I walked up to some shelving units - I thought to myself - "I have hit the jackpot!!! Before me on the shelf were about 20+ Avon bottles!! WooHoo!! Well you will be proud of me, I showed some restraint. I did not buy them all.

I looked through them and picked my favorites -at kept the price at about $10.00. I love the pink flowers on this clock - I love details like that.

I loved this blue bottle - it was only $1.00 - it has a cork as part of the lid - thought that was interesting.

I had seen a bottle like this one at the Antique Mall and had just not wanted to pay the price they had on it. But I love it - so I was happy to find it cheaper.

I thought this pear was pretty. The detail on the pear is really neat.

This flower - was sitting with the metal thing sticking up. And had thought it was flower but did not figure it out that it was this detailed of a flower - till I got home and was looking at my bottles. I was so happy to find all this detail.

Well I found a few good deals at Albertson's but nothing cool enough to take photos of..lol.

So that is how I spent part of one of my days off this week. I hope that you all are doing good. Until next time - take care. :o)

Vintage Perfume Bottles - part 2

I am going to warn you all - this will be a very photo heavy post. I finally got the rest of our vintage perfume bottles down off the shelves and cleaned them up so that I could post the photos and also now I have a folder on my computer that has photos of all of our perfume bottles in it. I am feeling a bit more organized. And that always feels good.

Most of these perfume bottles came from my husband's Grandparents house when they passed away.
This one goes nicely in our living room, where we have decorated with light houses and such.

This one also came from the Grandparents. We are thinking it might be a wiskey bottle instead since it does not have a screw on lid, but more like a cork was in the top of it. It is still a special bottle to us.

My husband was able to find a site on the internet that told of the time periods that some of these bottles came out. This one is said to be from 1968.

This green lantern has perfume in it and it actually smells pretty good still. That is surprising.

This soldier and the lighthouse below - actually sy that they are from Old Spice. My husband says he remembers getting these for his grandparents for Christmas. They are also in the living room.

This penny is said to be from 1970-72.

This "Weather or Not" is said to be from 1969 - 71. It is also in the living room. We actually have two of these.

It says this man's head bottle is from 1968-71.

This car is called straight eight car and we have two of these. It is said to be made in 1969- 71.

This stein is actually an Aqua Velva product. When you open the lid - there is a plastic bottle of the perfume inside.

I love this blue car. It is said to be from 1971-73. I think it is so pretty.

This log cabin bottle - I found at a local thrift store for $1.00. I love to find deals like that!

This phone also came from my husband's grandparents. Some of the gold paint on the bottle part of the bottle is flaking off so I did not clean it first. Trying to be careful with it.

Well I hope you all have enjoyed part two of my Vintage Perfume Bottles post. :o)

I Love Vintage Avon Perfume Bottles!

I love vintage Avon perfume bottles. When I was growing up my grandparents on my Dad's side bought my sister and I a couple of things of perfume in really pretty bottles. I don't have those bottles any more. When I was younger, I did not appreciate things like this any where near as much as I do now. I wish that my Mom had have realized that these type things would be important to me one day and had have kept them. It is funny how when you get older things that once were important to you are not so much and things that were not much important to you they have new value. Several of these bottles belonged to my husband's granny. We have a great collection of the more masculine bottles too. I need to get them cleaned up and photos then I will share them with you all. They are on a shelve with quite a bit of dust. Hey now - I have been spending lots of time outside getting things cleaned up and then this week I took some much needed time to start getting things more organized here in the house.

But it won't be as easy of a task to organize and clean here in the house. See what I have been doing outside is cleaning things ups and all but inside - half of this stuff belongs to my husband and he likes his stuff where he has it, even if it is not very neat or tidy. So I work in areas around the house that I can. And I try to ignore the places that I can't.

It amazes me to see some photos of fellow bloggers and how show case ready their homes are. Well mine is no where near that. I try to have it as inviting and nice as I can but I don't have the ability to have it just the way I want it.

Most of these bottles I have found at Goodwill for about 1 - 2 dollars. Which I think is an awesome deal since when I go to Antique Malls I see the same ones for 3.95 and up. My collection could grow at a faster rate if I would be willing to spend that kind of money and maybe one day I will be. But for now part of the joy of collecting them to find them for just a dollar or two!!

This one I believe came from my grandma who past away back in 2001. The same year - actually the same exact week that we moved into the house we are in now. My Mother was nice enough to pick a few things out for me and for my sister. It seemed like a lot of the family rushed in and grabbed stuff so I am so thankful that she got what she got for us.

When we were getting the things that we wanted from my husband' grandparents house- I had no idea how special these pieces would some day be to me. This one I believe came from her house and the very first photo -of the blue pitcher also came from her. And I believe that the perfume bottle with the iris as the lid - came from her as well.

I am hoping that some day maybe these things can be a treasure to our grand children. Just like they are to us. Later I will do a post on the rest of our collection. :o)

Lovin' the Antique Mall

Going to the Antique Mall has a way of taking me back to the good ole days. As I walk around the mall - I just feel like it is taking back to a simpler time. And I love the way it feels. Today my husband and I went and it just became clear to me of why I love that place. We did not buy anything although I am going to watch something that spoke to me.

Isn't this cute? I love the little iron and the ironing board just makes it all the more cute!

And I love old keys! Aren't these great? They are so cool.

We also saw some great drop leaf tables. That is something else that I love. We found several pieces that we loved but we do not have any where to put them. So we just enjoy them at a distant.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!! And looking forward to what all God has planned! :o)

Look at These!!

A couple of months I shared how we had been at an Antique Mall and I had seen a cute little set- a little pitcher and 4 little glasses. Well I was going to ask a lady to help me get it(out of a locked case) and when I got there another lady had already asked her for the set. I was so disappointed. Well I fellow blogger had read about it She had told me that she had a set and when she got a chance she would send the set to me. Well TODAY was my lucky day!!

Look what I got in the mail today!! Thanks so much Judy!! They are so sweet. The pitcher is 3 inches tall. What an adorable set this is!!

This got me thinking - so often we are so concerned about ourselves. I know the last couple of days have been rough for me and I am so thankful for the thoughtfulness of someone else - that totally made my day! I need to look outside my self and see what I can do nice for those around me. :o)

Another Antique Mall Found Nearby

We have been looking for a chair to go out in our sun room/parlor.

Well yesterday my son was looking on Craigslist and found this chair:

I was so excited to find that it was at an Antique Mall - one I had not been to before that was only about 15-20 minutes away! I went there to see if the chair was sturdy and to see if it was something we would want. On the photo that was shown on Craigslist, you could not see the polka dots as clearly. Well the price was great and I sent information to my husband and he said he would have to see it in person.
While I was at the antique mall - I decided to just look through the whole thing. I had never realized it was as BIG as it was. Three Stories! I looked through it all. I also found this chair:

I love the legs - they are the same kind that the couch has. And I love the carvings and the those type details. It was a little higher in price, but I thought it would probably go with our couch better. Well my husband does not like the wicker type stuff on the back of the seat. So I don't know if we will get either one of them. I need to be patient. God will bring the right chair along - when it is the right time.
It was not a wasted trip because I really enjoyed looking through all the cool stuff. This is something I have never seen at an Antique shop before - it is a copper lined smoking stand. I thought it was really cool looking! Oh it is on top of another cabinet. It is only about 30 inches tall or so.
Well I hope you all have a great day! :O)

Growing in a Relationship with God lesson #5 How to Study the Bible

Good morning dear friends! I hope you are all doing well. It has really started to heat up here in Texas- I really can't complain though...
