A Celebrations....but it's not over yet...

This week an amazing thing happened - my husband got his picc line removed!! I had dared not to even think that this was a possibility to happen at the appointment this week. It has been a long 9 months of dealing with this issue and truthfully - it's not over yet.  The last 9 weeks have required at least 1 if not 2 trips to the BIG city near us. This meant about a 30 minute drive on a good day - but many of these appointments were near rush hour- so it took closer to 1 hour...ugh. Of course, there have been appointments off and on during the last 9 months.

I don't have much time now but I will try to get on another time and share more of what has been doing on around here and especially about what caused all there appointments and the 2 surgeries in 3 months time periods. I will also share a few things about what we learned so that maybe it helps you as well. :O)

“Taken and Tried” | Sabbath School Panel by 3ABN - Lesson 11 Q3 2024

Happy Sabbath to you all. I hope you are doing well. I am doing pretty good considering all the things going on here. Things have been so very busy. There has been quite a bit of Dr appointments- mostly for my husband - and a couple for my mother-in-law. We had bought some boxes of fruit and some of the fruit has been getting ripe way too fast so I have made up several batches of peach jam. I found a great recipe. It is a keep of a recipe. I will try to post a link to the recipe HERE.  I used cinnamon. I actually totally forgot that they had mentioned using allspice till I just looked up the recipe and thought I had found the wrong recipe. I have made peach jam before but did not use cinnamon and let me tell you - it makes a huge difference, at least I think it does. I have written this recipe down in my canning book. Anyway now I have pears I need to use up. I found a recipe that looks really good and I hope to be able to come back and share a link to that recipe as well- if it is a keeper of a recipe.

I hope you all are blessed. :O)

What are you focusing on?

Hello, my friends~ I hope you are all doing well. The last several weeks have been so busy with many dr appointments, both for my husband and my mother-in-law. And sadly, it does not look to be slowing down any time soon.

So yesterday I took my MIL to an appointment. And by the time I was home, I was stressed out. Why? because doing the several hours with her I had to hear several negative stories for the umpteenth time. It is very draining to listen to negativity as it is but to hear the same negative stories over and over is very draining, at least to me it is. So, I had to do some recouping yesterday afternoon. I learned an important lesson.  Life might be stressful with negative things in it, but we don't need to be focusing on the negativity all the time. And certainly not dumping out negativity on our captive audience. I realize she may not be feeling well and i am trying to be understanding about it. I am trying to come up with a nice way to direct her thoughts to positive things. I might just say something like - hey how about we come up with a few positive things to think about.

Negativity ~ drains

Positivity ~ uplifts

This reminds me of another conversation with another family member that told me that they had been thinking about the negative some much so that it had gotten them very depressed. So, this is another good reason to try to avoid being negative all the time.

Another thing that focusing on the negative does - is that it lowers our immunity. So maybe when you start to go down the negativity road yet again... just tell yourself to think of several positive things to think about.

This week I was reminded of something positive that I don't usually recognize. We have construction on the road we live on. Normally we don't. And when we don't, I don't realize how nice it is to just get in the car and go wherever I want to go whenever I want to go without seeing if I can even get out of my driveway. So, this is something that I have thanked God for this week, that normally I don't have to deal with construction on my road.

During 2020 and since we have been reminded how thankful we should be when the things we want to buy are actually in stock. Often times we take that for granted.

Well, I have so much that I need to catch up on around here since there have been so many extra appointments and such going on. I hope you all are doing well. :O)

An Example, A Reminder

Remember how I mentioned in yesterday's post about keeping extras of the things you use on hand? Well yesterday afternoon the rain seemed to calm down to just a drizzle so I decided to run to Aldi's. It's easy to get a decent parking spot nearby and so you don't get too drenched if it was to start pouring down rain. Thankfully I could get most of what we needed there. But guess what happened? For the 2nd week in a row, they were out of the canned cat food. Ugh... I have gotten my cats off of treats we were spending too much money on them, and they were wanting more and more. So, I decided to stop giving them treats but I do split a can of cat food between the 3 indoor cats and then what they don't eat is fed to a stray that I feed. Anyway, I wanted to share since it was what I had mentioned yesterday. I am SO very glad that canned cat food is one of the things I try to keep well stocked. If Aldi's doesn't have any next week, I will have to go to the other town nearby that also has an Aldi's.

So please just try to keep a bit extra of the things you really need to have - you never know when it will be gone from the shelves for several weeks without warning.

Fair Weather Shopper

So today I had big plans to go to town and run some errands. Our grocery list has been getting longer and longer every day so going to Aldi's and Walmart were on my list of things to do. I also wanted to check out a favorite consignment store as well, but the weather had other plans for me.

As of 1:15pm today we have gotten 1.45 inches of rain. Oh, do we need that rain!!! We had had rain in the forecast every day the last several days and have hardly gotten more than a few drops. So, of course, I am thrilled for the rain, but it does throw a damper on my plans. I don't like to go get groceries in the rain. Some could say I am a fair-weather shopper, just like I am a fair-weather walker. I don't like going walking in rainy or super-hot or really cold weather, either.

I have decided to stay home and enjoy the rain instead of shopping and taking care of my errands. This is truly a real treat!! After a hot summer it feels great to have a bit more mild temperatures and rain. It feels good to be able to hold my plans loosely. It makes like easier to handle. Yeah, I really wanted to go shopping but I can work it into my plans later this week or postpone till next week.

I had a lot of odds and end jobs to do here at home any way so I have worked on those jobs today and will continue to do so. That way I will be more ready to watch our grandson the next three days.

We can make do until I can get groceries. That is one reason why I try to keep extras of the thing we use the most. I'd like to encourage you to do the same.  Last week when I went to Aldi's they were totally out of several things on my list. I never seemed to notice stores being out of things before 2020 but I really notice it now. That is another reason why I try to stock up when I can - you never know when the item won't be available.

I am so glad that I was able to get my garden mowed and weed eated over the weekend. And I am very glad that yesterday I was able to get potatoes planted out and I also got my yellow squash, zucchinis, and cucumber plants planted out in the garden. I am very happy about that. Now they are getting a good deep watering. Praising God for that.

Well, that is all for now. I hope that you all are doing well. Until next time be blessed! :O)

My Best Deal

Today I wanted to share my best deal. I haven't done that in a long time. I just have been very busy. Now that my computer is in my sewing room, I will have a bit more opportunity to type up a quick post here and there. And today is one of those days.

Last week I took my mother-in-law to an appointment. At the appointment I saw someone had a really cool keyboard. I looked it up on Amazon and the closest thing to the one I saw was going to be $39.95. I had it in my Amazon cart. Thankfully I had not checked out yet though, because when I went to my local little thrift store, I found one similar to what I wanted!!!

I bought the keyboard and the book "Children's Stories of the Bible from the old and new testaments" I had a copy of this when I was a little girl - our parents got it for us in 1973. I still have the book. I wanted to get this one so I could sent it with one of my grandsons.

So I bought these 2 things for $4.00!!

What a deal!!

I have already hooked it up and it works perfectly!! Yay!

Read for a special Public Service Announcement (time sensitive)

Good afternoon. I hope that you all are doing well and staying cool. I know that it is that time of year, here in Texas, where it is hard to stay cool. This morning while I was outside with my grandson I remembered someone once saying how miserable it was in Florida because they have a wet heat. And supposedly here in Texas it is a dry heat so it is more comfortable here. Well...That might used to be the case but we have had high humidity and high dew point - and both high together make it quite uncomfortable.

My poor garden is struggling. After all the work put into it - it is disappointing when the heat and bugs destroy the garden. It makes me look forward to heaven even more. Just think there we can plant and there will be perfect conditions to grow and no bugs to kill the plants - because there will not be death there. It is just so amazing to think of it all.

I have been trying to take notes of what I need to do differently next year. One main thing I want to do and I will share it just in case this can help you as well. Every year I print out the sheets of paper that tell me when to plant for spring and for fall. And I sit down with the papers and organize my plans. Last year I did not sit down soon enough to do this job and got my onions and potatoes into the ground later than was optimal. So my bright idea is to have a garden calendar and to work on it prior to the end of January. That way I don't miss any start dates. I plan on starting my onions and my potatoes around Valentine's Day - this is what I have heard from some old timer gardeners. I will also have frost cloth ready to cover and protect plants if we get any freezes after they are plant. And my sugar snap peas need to be planted earlier. One of my friends had great success with sugar snap peas one year and I think it is because she got them planted early. So this will be on my calendar. I really think that having a calendar with things written on dates that they need to be planted will be very helpful and I will refer to it often.

I am going to work on having a fall garden. It is so fun and enjoyable to work out in the garden when it's cool so I think I will really enjoy a fall garden.

My husband has been getting a lot of overtime. And sad thing is that no very many people want the overtime this time of year. Well my husband is working as much as he can handle. And the biggest blessing is that we will be able to pay off our RV saving ourselves over $5,000. in interest. That is the worst part of taking out a loan to buy something - paying a whole lot MORE because of interest. I told my husband I don't want to get another loan. I would rather us save up money and pay cash. Yes- it isn't as easy in this instant gratification world but the money saved would be SO worth it. We are also able to pay a $775. hospital bill. I am very glad about this since it looks like my husband is looking at having a surgery this year. We will find out more on August 5th when he sees the specialist.

Have I shared about our baby chicks?! So we had 5 until something got one of our 5 week old babies. :o( Made me so sad. We have 5 more chickens sitting. We are looking at getting rid of our rooster. I just don't know if I want to keep having baby chicks and the possibility of a lot of little roosters- knowing my luck. I did figure out a way to help us get more eggs. You see during the day the other chickens would push their way into the boxes that the hens are sitting on and so almost all of our eggs were under the chickens. So I was getting 1 or 2 eggs a day. I don't sell a lot of eggs but I would like to at least keep the customers we have happy with eggs. My secret? Well I bought a package of fake eggs and I marked the eggs with a smiley face and I put them in boxes where I already had a fake egg. That way there are at least 2 fake eggs in sevearl of the boxes. The chickens like to lay where other hens are laying so we have begun to get more eggs for us. Yay!

Well I have other things I want to get done today so I better get off of here. Before I close I have a public service announcement - On July the 14th postage stamps will be going up again. Right now a first class stamp is 68 cents but on the 14th prices will go up to 73 cents a stamp. It is time NOW to go buy a roll of forever stamps and save yourself some money. Because the way it looks is that every year prices will keep going up.

Checking In

Hello Friends! I sure hope you are doing well. Things are very busy here but I wanted to jump on here and say Hi! We bought a new Buffet to go in the dining room - so I had to get rid of our computer cabinet and move computer to my sewing room. So I may get a chance to get on here more often to write a bit. I will try to share a photo of the buffet. We found it at the Antique Mall. I love older furniture. It is usually made better. This piece is probably not really old but we really like it.

This week we got a sweet surprise - a momma chicken hatched out 3 baby chicks.

It has been quite a job to get an area set up that is secure for our new little additions.
They are so sweet. We are really enjoying them.

Well I better close for now so I can get things done around here.

Just checking in for a few minutes to say everything is going well here. The weather looks as if it is safe to plant things out in my garden. I sure hope no unexpected surprises come our way because I started planting my tomato plants out in the garden today! Earlier in the week I planted squash seeds and green beans and patiently waiting for the plants to emerge. I really enjoy the springtime but it does get awfully busy trying to keep up with it all.

I live in an area where the eclipse will be visible and hoping things don't get a crazy as I have heard some to say it could. Of course I learned several years ago not to listen to all the propaganda. I will be doing my best to go fill up my car this afternoon - because it is at 1/4 of a tank and I do not like it that low. I don't do a lot of running around but I like to keep a decent amount of gas in my car just in case. We may try to get a few groceries so that we don't have to worry about that for a while.

I hope you all are doing well. :O)

By the way today is day 40 of my sugar fast. Be watching for a post about it. :O)

What We Learned to Do and Watch Ingredients, you may be surprised

During this sugar fast, I had noticed that the Aldi's peanut butter I was using had 2 grams of added sugar. At first I didn't think that was a big deal. Especially since I didn't want to spend the big bucks to get the natural peanut butter that had none. Thankfully my Mom bought me a jar of Smuckers Peanut Butter. Yummy! It was delicious. But again, I did not want to have to pay $4 something for peanut butter.

Then I made a trip to Winco- It's about a 30 minute drive or so - so I don't make it very often. While there I found that they have machines that you can grind peanuts into peanut butter. $1.88 a pound!! They also have honey nut peanut butter, cashew butter, and almond butter you can grind. These cost more per pound.

When I got home I realized that the peanut butter was still pretty thick, not creamy like the Smuckers. So what was I going to do? My husband started looking at what we could do here at home to make peanut butter. Found some reasonable machines on Amazon- with, of course, reviews stating that the machines didn't last long. Then he did more research and found out that we would put peanuts in the food processor and make it ourselves. Thankfully we had a jar of peanuts and so we began making peanut butter. It was fun to watch it evolve from peanuts all the way to creamy peanut butter. You just have to mix it long enough to get there. We scooped the peanut butter into half pint canning jelly jars. It is very good! Just like smuckers!

And all that is in our peanut butter is roasted peanuts and 2 pinches of salt.

Be sure and look at the ingredients in the natural peanut butters- I was surprised to see palm oil in some that said they were natural. It's sad because I am sure there are many people out there eating what they think is natural peanut but but it has ingredients that you may not want to be putting in your body. I know I don't want palm oil in my peanut butter. Anyway this is why am sharing this experence so you will know to be watching and how it is to make your own. Oh and by the way- if you have a Winco near by and you grind some peanuts to make peanut butter but you want it creamier- you can put it in your food processor and blend some more till it is creamy!!

A Three Word Year!

I started at the results by picking the word THRIVE. But in my readings God has reminded me that I need to add 2 more words for this year. So apparently this will be a 3 word year! And honestly when you understand what I mean you will also realize that maybe every year from now on will be at least 3 words, maybe 4 word years!

Do you know that story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho? If not you can find it in Joshua chapters 5-6.

"For the walls to come tumbling down, God's people had to first shout the victory. In full obedience and faithful expectancy, they lifted up their voices to Him in praise." (This quote was found on page 38 of the book "The 40-day Sugar Fast")

In order to get the victory they had to believe and praise.

I already knew that victory was another word for this year. This word just keeps coming up so much that I couldn't ignore it. But I just kept feeling like something was missing. But today it became quite clear that is was praise that was missing. As I wrote the 3 words on an index card, I realized that my first word would need to be praise, because with out praise I will not experience victory or thriving.

So for 2024 I will focus on Praising God because the same God who brought the walls of Jericho tumbling down is quite capable of bringing my strongholds down as well! By bringing these walls down, I will gain the Victory and Thrive.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

James 1:17

Real Bread is satisfying!

Jesus is known as the bread of life and He is very satisfying!

Thriving....

Almost a month ago I shared how the word for the year would be thrive. Little did I know at the time how very true this would be for me. I will share a bit more about that in just a bit.

I also shared how I would be participating in a 40 day sugar fast with a small group at my church. To be honest with you - I almost backed out. The night of the meeting that was planned before we got started- I got a lot of anxiety and decided I just might not participate in the challenge. I gave myself permission to just stay home. I prayed about it and let it go. Several days later, I felt peace about it and on Sunday, January 21st I started the fast. I must have gotten confused because the 22nd was actually the first day of the fast. But oh well I just have 1 more day under my belt than everyone else.

I have been thrilled with how I have seen God lead. A couple of days before I started this challenge God brought the "Bread Beckers" youtube channel to my attention. I watched one video and knew I had to go back and watch from the #1 video in the Sue's Healthy Minutes series. And OH what a blessing they have been. They have led me to making some big changes in my life, I will explain more about these in another post. Speaking of seeing how God leads- Once I found the Bread Beckers youtube channel and had been watching quite a few videos I started thinking - oh yeah- I have a Bread Beckers Book. I went looking for it in my book case and there it was!!

I don't even remember why I bought this book in the first place - but God was preparing me for such a time as this!

I have noticed a big increase in energy since eating healthier. The truth is I love to eat healthy. I enjoy the foods that God created for us to eat. They contain the nutrition that our bodies need. And when you take some of those things out of your diet - your body suffers. If you have watched some of the "Sue's Healthy Minutes" you have learned by now that when you mill your own grains you get some much more out of your grains - ALL the nutrition that your body needs. Many people think they are gluten sensitive - but the truth is that it is just hard for their bodies to process the flour that has had it's germ and bran removed. And if they would give freshly milled flours to make their own breads and other things - they would notice a huge improvement in how they feel.

One of the reasons I had not gotten back to eating healthy is because I didn't think I would have time with taking care of my 2 year old grandson. But the truth is I have been able to and not only that but it has made it so much easier for me to do so plus all the other thing I need to do as well.

So if you would like to thrive- I suggest you pray and ask God what choices you may need to make. Listen to the Bread Beckers podcasts - they are so encouraging in making better choices for you and your family. It is WELL worth your time to listen to them. The only reason I am thriving is because God led me to the information I needed to make the best choices for my health. I am so thankful that He is guiding and directing - even when I realize that He is. And it's so fun to realize that he is when you find the exact book on your shelf in your bookcase that you need at a particular time - that you bought several years ago!!

Episode 02: Deception of Enrichment

Another Bread Becker video to share with you today. This is important information and will inspire you to want to mill your own grains. When we mill/grind our own grain - we get every bit of goodness from that kernel of wheat. God created perfect food for us and when things are taken out of the grain- we miss out on that goodness. Please watch and be blessed!! :O)

The Word of the Year!!!

Sorry it has taken so long for me to share what I believe is suppose to be my word for the year. Things have been so very busy around here. Today is a rainy day so instead of going to Winco like I really wanted to do today I opted to stay home and get things done here. It has been a very productive day so far. Among other things I was able to finally get my carpets cleaned this morning and I am working on laundry. So since I am working on things here at home and since my husband is currently sleeping and I just finished getting my checkbook up to date. I thought I would take advantage of a nice quiet house.

So I hadn't really been thinking about a word for the new year and then a few things happened. A friend on facebook who has also had and went through treatment for endometrial cancer shared a meme on Facebook and tagged me. And it had to do with her wish for us to thrive. It reminded me of a lady - the one person I meant on facebook who also had the same kind of cancer as me and so I connected with her. And she blessed me. She had not caught her cancer as early as I had and so sadly she has passed a couple of years ago. But the impact she had on my life is still with me. Her motto and what she always ended her messages or comments with was "SS&T" Stay Strong and Thrive! This is quite opposite as to what a person usually does when going through cancer treatment - but here she was doing this and blessing others by helping us focus on those things as well. I have often thought of her. And I certainly did when my friend Ladonna shared the post about thriving. And there could have been something else? All I know is that I felt very led by God to choose "THRIVE" as my word for the year!!

God is SO good. It is amazing how he orchestrates things. Be brought and amazing book to me to be reading right now:

I have been so blessed by this book! And it didn't hit me till today how God worked this out for me to be reading this book right now and how it goes right along with my goal of thriving this year!

My church has been doing small groups that are doing for 6 -8 weeks - for different seasons of the year for the last year or 2 now. This time I picked one where we would be doing "The 40 Day Sugar Fast"
(photo bummed from Ebay -when I bought a copy)

I bought the book a couple of weeks ago while preparing for this small group to begin. To be perfectly honest - I got a bit panicky and almost decided to NOT do this fast. There were so many reasons not to do it now. And as I thought about it I realized that it was just an attack trying to steal my joy. So I pressed through the anxiety and decided that yes I would do my best.

At the same time God brought a youtube channel - that I thought I had subscribed to - to my attention.

I started watching Sue's Healthy Minutes on episode 100. And then I went back to number 1 and am going through the series and I have been learning so much! Later this week I will be sharing a video each week. You are welcome, of course to go to youtube and go back to #1 and watch. I know I wouldn't want to wait a week - I might do 2 a week. The information there is SO very important. There is so much misinformation out now days. It's great to hear truth. Please listen. It is SO very healthy for us to mill our own grains. Because once grains are milled - they being to lose some of the nutrition. Plus the flours that we buy have the bran and germ removed. Yes they may add some things to make the flour "enriched" but what we get it not what God intended for us. Our bodies need all the elements that are in the grain and most of the time it is only because things are taken out that some people think their bodies can't handle wheat. Please watch them.

What does all of this have to do with my word for the year? Plenty! In order for me to thrive I need to be taking care of myself the way God intended me to. And that means eating healthy goods. And bread that I have milled the flour myself will be a staple in my diet 100%. Listening to these podcasts have helped me to be excited about making these good choices for myself. And it has already contributed to me thriving!

Reading my book about God and His love for me has been just the perfect thing for me to be reading right now. It has opened my eyes to the truth of Who God is. There are many misconceptions but this book has chapter after chapter of deep spiritual truths that help open my eyes to the love and faithfulness of God!

So this year I intend to THRIVE! I hope that you, too, will choose to thrive. Sometimes it is a choice. A choice to look at the blessings instead of trials. But there are also choices we can make that will help us on our journey to thrive! :O)

Stay The Course!

So my husband got me a daily planner. It is a great book with a spiral binding that I am able to lay out on my desk. It helps me keep up with all the different things on my calendar and it helps keep me organized.

I love how it has a verse for each month. This is the verse for January - God's mercies are new every morning and every year! The very next page in this planner have a place where I can write down my goals for the month and list out the things I need to do. I have already went through the entire planner and written "Stay the Course" at the top of each months page of goals. That way I am reminded each month that if I have slipped away from doing some of them - to get back on course.

I believe that the reason why we fail so often to achieve our goals is that we do not keep pursuing them. We fail for a few days and throw away all the good we have accomplished towards our goal. And just because of a few fails. How very sad. That is how we let ourselves down the most by just trashing our goals just because of a few mistakes.

So if you have written out goals for this year - set up a way to hold yourself accountable. Set up reminders - maybe set up reminders on your phone to stay the course or to ask how you are doing on your goals. What ever it takes to stick with working towards your goals. What ever the case - Stay on Course! If these things that you set as your goals are important to you - you will want to stay on track.

Ask God to help you. He wants us to be successful- especially when our goals are to put Him first and taking better care of ourselves. He wants to give us the victory. We just have to ask Him for help and surrender to Him and allow Him to work through us.

Good luck as you work to Stay the Course!!

Some of my Goals for the Year!

Ten days into the month and I finally get a chance to hop on the computer and share a few of my goals for the year. It's been a busy couple of weeks - who am I kidding - busy couple of months, maybe even years.

So I hope you were able to get some goals up for yourself for the year. I know that many people don't like to make New Years Resolutions because let's face it so many times we fail. And sometimes it's just easier to handle not even setting resolutions than to keep failing year after year. But I have decided to set goals for myself. And set them in a way that even if I fail, I do not entirely give up. So if I were to set a goal of losing weight and let say that a week or 2 goes by and you don't see a change on the scales you are more than likely going to give up. When we set up our goals we need to give ourselves a reasonable amount of time to achieve said goals. And we also need to stick to working towards our goals.

Stay with working towards your goals - no matter what bumps come along the way. This will mean that we will STAY THE COURSE. No matter if like me with in the last 10 days I have failed at some of my goals already- I will not give up. I will try to do better tomorrow.

Ok - on to some of my goals:

  • I want to work better at staying off of my devices till after quiet time. I want my time with Jesus to be a priority. I do go get myself a glass of water and because I have cats who would bother me if I do not feed them - they get fed before quiet time. But then -I do my best to get to my quiet time. I am reading an excellent book (that I highly recommend) and it is something I look forward to reading each morning. It has given me more wonderful insight into who God really is. And I am only halfway through reading it.
  • I have studied a little about how good rebounding (think mini trampoline) is for a person. And how it helps keep the lymph system moving and working right. It helps strengthen the core, which is very important. It is amazing how if the core if stronger it helps alleviate pain sometimes as well. One video I watch the Dr suggested using it 5 minutes 3 times a day to start and then 10 minutes 3 times a day and then 15 minutes 2 times a day. Right now my goal is to at least use it for 5 minute a if at all possible. There have been days I have gotten a second 5 minutes in but because where we have our rebounder at the moment - sometimes it is challenging to get more in. But I can always do other exercising as well and that is what I have tried to do. I am trying to so some weight workouts and trying to get more walking in as well. Exercise is VERY important for your health and well being. And some this is something high on my list of goals.
  • I am also working on eating more healthfully. It is important to give our bodies the important nutrients that it needs. And to do this we need to make good decisions on what we put into our bodies. One way I will work towards achieving this goal is that I will be participating in a small group that a lady from my church is doing with this book:
  • I would like to continue towards getting more organized. I have a home management binder that I set up years ago. To be perfectly frank - I have not utilized it as I should have been doing. So this year I am adding a few more sections which will help me in several different ways. I have a budget section where I am keeping track of our bills and when they are paid. I have a spend\no spend calendar page of each month. I put a green check mark on days I don't spend any money and on days I do - I am writing in where and how much spent. I am also keeping track of money spent on Amazon, Walmart(orders), thrift stores and grocery stores. With grocery stores I am separating how much spent on food, pets, cleaning supplies, misc., paper goods, etc. This way I can get a better idea of how much money we are spending in each area.
  • Speaking of organizing - I am also slowly working on getting my home more organized as well, one drawer at a dime. Slow but steady work towards being more organized.
So these are the basic goals I have. I want to be healthier and I want to be more organized but most important is that I want to put God first!

I hope that if you have not set goals for yourself that maybe my list will inspire some thoughts of where you would like to see improvements in your life and start working in those areas.

Natural Antibiotics - Sharing again - Just in case needed

I shared this recipe just a couple of months ago but since I have family members sick and needed to make this stuff up - I decided to share recipe again. I also plan on using less garlic than this recipe calls for and probably more onion- I also plan on using both red and yellow onions - just in case by using both it helps get a few more helpful ingredients into it.

I plan on making a jar for them and a jar for me as well. This is great as a preventive as well. And great to have on hand during this time of year when A LOT of sickness is going around.

I hope you all are well.

Natural Antibiotics

1 bulb of garlic (15-20 cloves)

1 onion (preferably red- or purple as my husband and I call them)

1/4 cup ginger - my friend only used about the size of her thumb but a little fatter - wasn't as much as 1/4 cup - she knew that just might be too much for me- she was probably right)

1 T honey (or more)

2 lemons - juiced

Smash garlic ~ Wait 15 minutes so properties can be activated

Cut everything into small pieces ( My friend uses a hand held food processor- I will share a photo of what she uses at the end)

Mix all the ingredients together. Put into a quart sized jar and cover with purified water.

Put jar in a pan with water, bring the water in the pan to a boil, once it gets to boiling turn off the heat and let cool down. Keep in fridge. Can last up to a month in the fridge.

When you are real sick it was suggested to take 1 tablespoon every hour while you are awake.
