A Three Word Year!

I started at the results by picking the word THRIVE. But in my readings God has reminded me that I need to add 2 more words for this year. So apparently this will be a 3 word year! And honestly when you understand what I mean you will also realize that maybe every year from now on will be at least 3 words, maybe 4 word years!

Do you know that story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho? If not you can find it in Joshua chapters 5-6.

"For the walls to come tumbling down, God's people had to first shout the victory. In full obedience and faithful expectancy, they lifted up their voices to Him in praise." (This quote was found on page 38 of the book "The 40-day Sugar Fast")

In order to get the victory they had to believe and praise.

I already knew that victory was another word for this year. This word just keeps coming up so much that I couldn't ignore it. But I just kept feeling like something was missing. But today it became quite clear that is was praise that was missing. As I wrote the 3 words on an index card, I realized that my first word would need to be praise, because with out praise I will not experience victory or thriving.

So for 2024 I will focus on Praising God because the same God who brought the walls of Jericho tumbling down is quite capable of bringing my strongholds down as well! By bringing these walls down, I will gain the Victory and Thrive.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Word for the Year....What could it be?

I am one whole month late on getting this post typed up and posted. Sorry about that. Things have been pretty busy around here. Lots of work to do. But here it is finally...

In 2014, I jumped on the bandwagon of choosing a word for the year. I actually hadn't heard very much about having a word for the year. But 2014 was a year that gave me the word. It wasn't one I thought of on my own. It was one that as I sat in the waiting room of the Cancer Center - waiting to be called back for yet another session of chemo - along with many others - I realized that Courage was my word. I looked at those faces and I knew that just like - me it took a lot of courage to come back time after time.

From 2014 to now- some words have been clear and sometimes it hasn't been. Sometime I learn a lot from my word and sometimes a different word came to be clearly the word that year. And some years seemed to be a mish mash of words and ideas that I needed to learn that year.

The word I have chosen for this year just popped into my mind one day. It was like I am going to have to have some perseverance to make it through another year like 2020. And that is when I knew my word would be persevere or perseverance.

I have been studying this word and looking at Bible verses with this word or idea. So be watching for blog posts where I will share things that I am learning about there words.

I am sure that there will be many other things that God has planned for me to learn and I look forward to them as well. I will share what I can here with you all.

So I typed this out and a couple days later - I realized that Faith needs to go along with my words -Have Faith and Persevere!! I have a feeling that FAITH will be something very important for us to focus on this year.

Have you picked a word for the year? If so, what is it?

Word of the Year

So I was asked recently if I had pick a word for the year yet. Well to be honest I had not even given it any thought at all. And this question was asked on New Year's Eve.  Well just a couple of short hours later a friend posted this meme on Facebook and I just had to share it with this post.

I had not thought about picking a word at all. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised because like this past year - I had picked the word "Joy" and I had thought that was the word. It has come up a couple of different times and so I thought that was the word but as the year progressed it became even more clear that - Joy was not my word for 2019.
Acceptance seemed to be the word.
Acceptance of what I can not change.
Acceptance of myself
Acceptance of me - just the way I am.

I spent some time on New Year's Eve thinking about past words - and I also decided that I will be writing down my words in a special book each year so that I can look back and see where I have been and what direction I am going.
Courageous
Trust
Grace
Acceptance
are just a few of the words of the year that I have had over the past 6 years or so.

For some reason the word "Glorious" really stands out to me. I don't know if it is because the Christmas program the church choir put on sang several different songs that spoke of it but it is intriguing/ I may end up being surprised at God revealing a totally different word to me over this new year - but for now I will be spending some time studying about how "Glorious" our Saviour is and what He may want to teach me this year through this word.

Have you pick out a word for the year? If so what is is? I would love to hear - so please leave a comment. :O)
