So this is where the dilemma comes up for me.
So right now- as my hair grows out - if someone has a problem with my hair, thinks it looks dorky - what ever - it is not my fault. But if I try to style it and it looks dorky - it would be my fault. And maybe it would not bother me quite so much if I had a thinner face. I have always liked having at least shoulder length hair in order to help my face look thinner(at least I thought so).
Anyway I know it might sound like a trivial problem to some, but I am sure I am not the only person going through this that has struggled with this.
I am thinking that tomorrow after my shower I might play with my hair a bit and see what I come up with. Maybe part of me is afraid that if I style it then people would be more likely to think that I chose to have my hair this short. Anyway that is what my dilemma is for this part of this "adventure" along my journey.
I also wanted to share some wonderful verses that I was reminded of this morning in my devotional time.
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love.
I Corinthians 16:13-14 NKJV
There it is ~ another call to be strong and courageous!
You know what? If you want to put product in your hair and play with it a little, you have every right to do it, even if someone else doesn't like it. You can do it one day, and not the next, just depending on what YOU want to do. There will always be someone who would make a different choice, and you can't have your life on hold hoping to please them all. I wonder if the person at Sabbath school just meant to say something playful, not at all trying to send the message they thought your hair looked "dorky". From the photos I've seen here, I've thought your hair is looking nice, just as it is. Your hair color really compliments the coloring of your face, to make a beautiful combination.
ReplyDeleteI say do what you FEEL like doing! If it seems FUN to you to try out gel or other products in your hair to see what you can get it to do, go right a head! If it seems fun to you to try out a clip or a barrette, then do it! But if on the other hand it seems stressful because you really just need your hair to be a bit longer first--then by all means do NOT feel like you are obligated to try styling it when you are still needing it to grow more first. So in a nut shell--go with your gut--whichever seems fun to you!
ReplyDeleteI just remembered something I have seen before that you might like--I have a friend here who wore a head band once which I thought was SO pretty--it was like small ribbon roses. I think she said she found it at Target. I know at Walmart I have also seen head bands that were made out of a pretty floral scarf like material. These types of head bands are decorative and pretty, and could help you feel like you are dressing up while you are waiting for your hair length to grow longer to be able to use other types of hair clips and things. You know--just like we do with our baby girls when they do not have enough hair to style but we want them to look "girly." I do not mean this in a bad way--just that maybe you can do something along the same lines but not babyish, but still something pretty and feminine. . . just a thought, anyway!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment above, headbands can be really cute! Anyway, I can see your dilemma. I think you should play with different ideas and do whatever makes you feel the best. Others opinions and judgements don't matter at the end of the day. Hugs to you!
