The Very Last One (of this year)

This is the very last Block of the Month(BOM) of this year. And as you all know by now that my quilt shop that I was doing the BOM at is closing in just a few short days from now- the end of August.
About 10 years ago or so my husband's job had him working 4-10 hour days which meant he was off on Fridays. Once a month on Friday morning I would go to BOM. Since my husband enjoys quilting also he decided to sign up for BOM as well. He was able to do the first 2 -3 and then his schedule changed but I kept getting his block for him.

Now I need to explain the rules of BOM- The first month we pay for the block packet - it started off at about $5.00. Then each month if you brought your finished block to you during the BOM- you would receive the next packet for free. However, only the 1st block was free. So if my husband had have been able to continue going to BOM his packet would have been free, but since he stopped being able to go - I started to have to pay for his.

For several years I let him pick which block he wanted to do(they offered 2 choices) and I would do the one he didn't do. Then I figured up how much I was paying for his blocks

$5.00X 12 months= $60.00

and things were already a bit tight, so I decided we just could not keep doing it.

But now I am so happy that I able to get those blocks those three years because now even though BOM is over I have the rest of those 3 years to work on finishing up.

For the past ;year - after I have finished my current BOM for the month= I have been working on finishing up the Red, Black, and White blocks. I have that set of blocks finished now so I have begun working on the Red, White, and Blue set of blocks.

This is the block I finished this month so far.
After I finish this set, I have a set of Christmas themed blocks to work on, and a set of western themed blocks to work on.

So you can see I have a decent amount of BOM kits to keep me busy for quiet some time.

When I am done with all of that- I have a Americana Shop Hop quilt to work on - and also a Brights Shop Hop Quilt to work on.

Then I have a heart quilt that I found a year ago that I have been working on gathering the fabrics for.

Oh and all of these Blocks in each of the sets of 12 will need to be put together with other fabric and made into quilts - and then all of them will need to be quilted. I have plenty of quilting projects to work on. So don't worry about me and not having any quilting to do, because God worked it all out ahead of time that I would have plenty to keep me busy. Although I am sad that BOM is over and that the quilt shop is closing down, I still have plenty of projects to work on to keep me busy and out of trouble. It is need to see how God works things out - long before there is a problem!

Blocks are Done...

Well I thought I would check in again and let you know I got my blocks done. So now I am all caught up.

Photo: It's a working in my seeing room, putting my block of the month together, and drinking key limeade kind of day! :0)

In the glass above I have some wonderful Cherry Key Limeade. I have shared how I make it before - just click on the link. It actually ends up being a very good and pretty cheap drink. The bag of key limes that I bought cost me $1.86 and I will probably get about 6-7 batches of it. And with getting my sugar at Aldi's - and only paying $.99 a bag for that - it is a very economical drink. Just remember that it is best to keep your key limes in the fridge.

I am missing my granddaughter already. When they were fixing to leave our house - she was crying cause she did not want to leave her Daddy. It about broke my heart. I do not like divorce- it damages so many people. And we carry those hurts around in baggage that we take into our own relationships and have to unpack them - and it is awfully painful to do so.

Anyway I am praying for my sweet, tender hearted granddaughter. We do get to see her this week end with is great! But it will be 2 weeks before we get to see her again- that will be hard.

Ok - I need to get off of here and get some things done. Have a good evening! :o)

Checkin' In

Just wanted to check in and let you know how things are going. This week end we have been blessed with really nice weather. I was also blessed to have my Mom come pick me up and take me to the park to go walking. I am trying to keep my energy up and also help combat constipation- which at least once of my chemo meds and my meds for nausea - cause for me. And last chemo - I was miserable on two different days - just don't want that again. So I am doing what I can to keep from getting that bad.

I have noticed that this time I am having the aches and pains throughout my body sooner. I thought last time that I did not start having them till after the first three days after chemo. Anyway some of the pain comes and stays for a while - some of it hits sharp and hangs with me a bit and then lets up. You never know where it will hit or for how long it will hit.

I have also noticed this time that I am becoming more sensitive to things - had a rash on both of my arms- I had noticed that my elbows were dry and had used some Neutrogena stuff - that I have used for a LONG time- well it seems that it caused a rash this time. So my husband bought me some hypoallergenic stuff. I am disappointed about that. I love lotions that smell good. That is just me- I like products that smell good. That is part of the enjoyable part of using what ever product it is.

Remember last week when I had the stitch coming out? Well I had put a bandaid over it - over night cause we did not know what it was and I did not want to accidently pull it. Anyway yesterday where the adhesive had been got really red and is still red. I have not had a bandaid on it since Wed morning. Anyway so that is another way I can tell that I am getting sensitive to a lot of things that I had not been sensitive to before.

There are so man elements about cancer and chemo that I had not realized before my journey through it. It is so much more complicated than I had even thought that it was.

I was able to get my block of the month finished for this up coming meeting on Friday morning. I missed the last two month's meetings because of a dr apt. and Chemo. But I will make it to this one- most likely. I have one more block to finish up to get caught up - just have not gotten it done yet.

I will post a photo of it when I get done. I think it will be a another cool block.

Well I am tired and I think I will go rest a bit more.

I hope you all are having a good week end.

Our beautiful weather is leaving tonight and the next two days or so will be quite chilly. Ya'll stay warm. :O)
