Heart Gifts.....series

I was given a great book. It is "Heart Gifts" a book full of Helen Steiner Rice's poetry and at the end a bit of her life story. Helen Steiner Rice is probably one of my favorite poets. Her writing is so uplifting and encouraging so I decided that I would do a series and share all of the poetry in this book - on a weekly basis.

"Heart Gifts"

It's not the things that can be bought
that are life's richest treasure,
It's just the little "heart gifts"
that money cannot measure...
A cheerful smile, a friendly word,
a sympathetic nod
Are priceless little treasures
from the storehouse of our God...
They are the things that can't be bought
with silver or with gold,
For thoughtfulness and kindness
and love are never sold...
They are the priceless things in life
for which no one can pay,
And the giver finds rich recompense
in giving them away.

  1. I have copied this poem for my dear friend Deb who is dealing with stage 4 kidney cancer...I am trying to gather up scriptures and quotes to help lift her spirits, and she collects hearts, so I think she will really love this poem!..Thank you, Lisa
