Condiments - In the Kitchen

Cashew Mayonnaise

1 C raw cashews
1/2 - 3/4 C water
1 T onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
3 T lemon juice

Place all ingredients in blender, and blend for at least a minute until silky smooth.


Ketchup

1 small can tomato paste
1 can water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp basil
1 T lemon juice
1 T honey

Stir together. Keeps in refrigerator 1 week. May freeze. Adjust to your taste.

  1. This is interesting. I have never heard of cashew mayonaise before.

    I use to make cashew cheese a lot, but after having two children with nut allergies, I stopped. I did learn however, that I could use rice as a substitute for the cashews and I did for awhile. But, eventually, with busy life, I stopped altogether.

    But, after seeing this post, I am going to revive my rice cheese again because we are all leaning towards vegan lifestyle.

    And seeing we are out of ketchup, this recipe looks simple enough!
