Whose Got Great Taste?

Well apparently me and my husband do. And how do we know this?
Well every time we go to the Antique Mall- the things that we both love are usually very pricey.
So we usually leave the Mall empty handed.

But I usually try to at least take photos so I can enjoy them later.

This last visit to the Antique Mall was no different. We found an awesome piece of furniture that I wanted to share with you all.

It is a writing desk that has a bookcase on the other side of it. If I had more money and more space in my house - I would have loved to have brought this piece of furniture home with me.

Another thing I found was a cute salt and pepper set.

I did not buy this set either - if it is still there another time that we go - I may buy them. They were a little pricey at $10.00 but they were fine china or something like that written on the bottom of them.

This set would fit in my collections great because,  I really like the smaller salt and pepper sets.
I have some bigger ones in my collection but eventually I will find new owners for them. That way they can bless someone else as much as they blessed me, but until then they will stay in my collection.

Anyway like I said if Jason and I ever wonder about out tastes- all we have to do is go to the Antique Mall and we are reminded of how good that taste is - well when expensive =good.

So we left empty handed.

But I had much better luck on a trip to Goodwill a few days later.

I found a stack of 4 tupperware bowls that I love. I already had some but some of them were wearing down, still useable but you can tell they have seen better days. I had hoped to some day find some at Goodwill. I can not afford to buy tupperware full price.

I borrowed the above photo from an ended ebay auction. I wanted you guys to get to see what I was talking about. Now I am hoping to come across some of the plates that I love- also made by Tupperware.

Set of 5 Royal Blue Tupperware Snack Plates

I borrowed the photo as well- but my plate like this are looking a lot like these. I LOVE these plates. They are not very big but I love them.

Oh the bowls I found were only 50 cents a piece! That's a great deal! Hoping to find some plates at a great deal!! If I do - I will sure let you know about it. You can count on that! :o)

Bible Marking series....Little Horn

If you are new to this series - scroll down to the end of this post to get an explanation of how I use this method for Bible Marking.

Today's lesson is: Little Horn - LH - Daniel 7:1-8

1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head while on his bed. Then he wrote down the dream, telling the main facts. 2 Daniel spoke, saying, "I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man's heart was given to it. 5 And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: 'Arise, devour much flesh!' 6 After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it. 7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.   LH-Dan. 7:17

17 'Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings which arise out of the earth.
LH- Dan.7:8

8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.
 LH- Dan. 7:25

He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time.    LH- Acts 20:29-30

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.   LH- 2 Thess. 2:3-4

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.    LH- Dan. 7:27

27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.'   LH- END

I wanted to share a link to a website that has some amazing Bible Studies. Some of which will expound more on some of these Bible Marking lessons we have had. Click Here to check out the Amazing Facts Bible Studies. These also are available in different languages.

Also Here is a link to some free books to read. I have not read them all but I have been blessed by the ones I have read. I hope you are as well.

********************************
As you can tell, I have decided to go in a different order than how my teacher presented these topics.

Before we begin, I would like to be sure and say up front- on all of these markings- I am not claiming that these are all of the verses for the topics. This is just a basic beginning point at studying a topic. I hope you all will enjoy them all.

Things you will need for Bible Marking:

*Bible
*colored pencils
*pencil- I recommend a good #2 pencil- these are getting harder and harder to find.
*pen- optional - I like to use a pen to write information on a paper in the back of my Bible.
*ruler or bookmark- you will use this to underline the verses.

Now you are ready to go!

Working With Christ.... Talents

Christ not only gives to every man his work, but He also gives talents, capabilities, for carrying on his work ( Matthew 25:15). While all do not receive equal talents, yet talents are distributed to all. Each receives as many as he has ability to improve.

We are prone to compare ourselves with others, and because we think their talents are more or greater than ours, we prefer to remain in the background and let the calls to sacred service go to them.

There was a time when Moses felt hat way. When God called him to deliver Israel, he compared himself with Aaron, who was more eloquent than he, and said to the Lord, "I am not eloquent, ...but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue" (Exodus 4:10). Three times Moses made excuses. Then the Lord called and said, "What is that in thine hand?" It was only an ordinary shepherd's rod, but when consecrated to God it became a symbol of His power. With it Moses delivered Israel.

The Lord blesses our service, not according to the number of talents we possess, but according to our use of them. He who has but one talent an consecrates it to God's service is honored by Him equally with the man who has five talents. "there is no limit to the usefulness of one who, putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart and lives a life wholly consecrated to God."

"Oh blessed service- Master mine,
My every power employ.
Help me to love and do Thy will,
In service find my joy."

Where Do You Put Your Trust... part 2

Today is part two from our study yesterday on "Where Do You Put Your Trust?"

Yesterday we learned that those who choose to serve men are cursed and those who choose to serve the Lord are blessed. Today we will take a deeper look.

While I was studying in Jeremiah in my Andrews Study Bible, I noticed at the bottom of the page for Jeremiah 17:5-8 it said:

"Life outside God's covenant is as barren as a withering shrub, while the righteous person rooted in God's goodness, flourishes."

Then it referred me back to Psalms 1. And like I said yesterday day this chapter also talks about the comparison of the differences of a person's life based on who they choose to serve.

After studying in Psalms 1 - I found myself in Joshua 1 verse 7:

"Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go."

The word prosper here could also mean "have success or act wisely."

verse 8 of Joshua 1 states:

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

Prosperous "The Hebrew implies success in the sense of penetrating and advancing through obstacles."

And isn't that Good News since believers in Jesus Christ end up having a lot of obstacles in our lives.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8

"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy."
1 Peter 4:12

Where Do You Put Your Trust?

While studying my Bible lately I came across a great lesson. And I wanted to share it with you.

5 Thus says the Lord: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. 6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.
Jeremiah 17:5-6

7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8

Psalms 1 also has a great comparison between the two.

We all have a choice to make - Will we put our trust in man or will we choose to trust God?
That is the question.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! :O)

Salt in My Kitchen...series

(sorry I totally forgot about this series- but it's back again. I hope it blesses you)

Against a Rainy Day

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:10-16

With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You! 12 Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes! 13 With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. 16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

"I just can't seem to memorize anything," is a typical reaction to a Sunday school teacher's suggestion that an adult pupil commit some Bible verses to memory.

Contrast this with the zeal of a Chinese convert from heathenism in this missionary's story:
"My house has only a bamboo roof," explained the convert, "and when the rains come down they leak through. I do not want the rain to leak on the Word of God. Rain cannot leak into my heart, so I write God's Word in my heart." The new Christian then demonstrates his ability to quote whole passages of the Bible.

He lived to see "other rains" rob him of the Bible. The godless Communists stormed through his country. They took his Bible but they could not rob him of what he had "hidden in his heart."

Who can tell how long we will enjoy precious freedom to read God's Word? Why not make the most of it. You can't memorize? Maybe you would like to try what others homemakers have found to be successful" Tack up a typed Bible verse where you will see it often in the course of a day. Put it above the kitchen sink of near the ironing board. Think of how you can lighten your daily duties and relieve the monotony by memorizing God's Word.

And you will, like our Chinese convert, have built a spiritual shelter against a rainy day.

I Can Trust

"I cannot know why suddenly the storm
      Should rage so fiercely round me in its wrath;
But this I know--God watches all my path,
      And I can trust.

"I may not draw aside the mystic veil
That hides the unknown future from my sight,
      Nor know if for me waits the dark or light;
      But I can trust.

"I have no power to look across the tide,
      To see while here the land beyond the river;
      But this I , know--I shall be Gods forever;
      So I can trust."

A poem from "Streams in the Desert" for May 15  at least in my edition of the book.

Bible Marking series....The Three Angels Message

I would like to share a link with you all today. This link is to Three Angels Broadcasting website. There is a lot of great programming that 3ABN puts on - If you have Dish Network - you can watch it on 9393- but if you don't at the top of the page for 3ABN - you can actually watch. I hope you are blessed!
Now onto our study today - it is on The Three Angels Message (what the broadcast above is named after).

If you are new to this series - scroll down to the end of this post to get an explanation of how I use this method for Bible Marking.

Today's lesson is: The Three Angels Message- AM- Rev. 14:6-7

6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth--to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people-- 7 saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water."
 AM- Ex. 31:16-17

16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.' "    AM- Rev:14:8

8 And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."    AM- Rev. 13:3-8

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" 5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.    AM- Rev. 16:19

19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.    AM- Rev. 16:13

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.   AM-Rev. 14:9-11

9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."
   AM- Rev. 14:13

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them."    AM- Rev. 13:15-17

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.    AM- Rev. 15:2

2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.    AM- Rev. 14:12

12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. AM- END

Working With Christ.... Our Commission

"In every one of His children, Jesus sends a letter to the world. If you are Christ's follower, He sends in you a letter to the family, the village, the street, where you live. Jesus, dwelling in you, desires to speak to the hearts of those who are not acquainted with Him."

One day Michelangelo found a block of marble, covered with dirt and rubbish, lying in a yard. He arranged to have it taken to his studio; and from this block, which seemed to others but a worthless rock, with mallet and chisel he carved the well-known statue of David. In like manner we are to see in those who know not Christ, stones to be fashioned and polished into saints of God. Webster said: "If we work upon marble, it will perish. If we work upon brass, time will efface it. If we rear temples, they will crumble to dust. But if we work upon men's minds, if we imbue them with high principles, with the just fear of God and love for their fellow men, we engrave on those tables something which no time can efface, and which will brighten and brighten to all eternity."

Our lives are to be daily living sermons. Not only by our studied efforts but by our unconscious influence, others are to learn of Christ. Even the countenance may tell for god. "the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart (of others)," said the wise man. This illustrated in the life of a Christian who was walking down a street in New York City. He was stopped by a stranger, who entered into conversation and said to him, "your face shows that you are a Christians." Then he asked with deep earnestness, "Can you help me to find God?"

On one of his professional calls a physician was asked by the wife of his patient, "Doctor, you are a Christian, aren't you?" When he asked in reply, "What makes you think I am a Christian?" she answered, "Because there is something about you that make us think of God."

To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Changed

"Love will replace selfishness in the hearts of the redeemed.
 They will be changed-
like Moses who, at age forty, murdered and overseer,
but at age eighty offered his life to save others.
Or Paul, who prior to Damascus road, used coercion, torture, imprisonment, and stoning to get his way,
but after walking with Christ, ultimately gave his life for others(Romans 9:3; 2 Cor. 7:3).
This is much the same way the Bible describes those who are ready to meet Jesus when he appears, who would not shrink from death(Rev. 12:11).
Fear and selfishness are replaced with pure, other-centered love."
quote from "The God Shaped Brain" by Timothy R. Jennings pg. 217

Wow - this book is awesome. This is a book that can transform your life. Many people have a false since of who God really is and what He is like. And that can cause all sorts of havoc in our lives. But once we learn of God and His law of Love - we can begin to heal. Love will replace fear - and who doesn't want that? God is Love and this books is an excellent book to help you better understand God. I know it has made a tremendous impact on my life.
I know I have posted about this book before but I just feel that there is a VERY important message in this book! And that everyone would benefit from it. So I just wanted to share this quote and tell you about it once again. I have about 2 chapters left- but I really think that I am going to see if my husband would be willing for us to read this book together once I am finished. There is so much to absorb in this book - it is a deep book and I think it would do me a lot of good to go trough it once again - and I would love for my husband to hear the message too.
The book actually had sold out on Amazon in many places, but they have made a new batch of books.

Saving Money

Good Afternoon~I hope you all are doing well. I woke up with a bit of a head ache and feeling like I might be trying to come down with something. I went and bought myself some of the generic airborne stuff - and have taken a few doses so far. Hoping that I can bypass getting sick. Just have felt tired and run down all day long. I will have to get to bed early tonight.

While I was out picking up the airborne stuff I stopped by two small thrift stores. Did not find anything at the one I usually go to, but found all of this at a thrift store that I don't usually go to. Glad I stopped by today.

I found all of this for 3.90. And I was thrilled! Since my son will have his daughter for the month of July, I am trying to make sure that we have enough clothes so that there will be clothes at my house and clothes at his house.

It is really a good idea to check out thrift stores if you are trying to save money - especially on kids clothes since sometimes they zip through clothes.

************************
Another thing about saving money- My husband and I switched our auto insurance and it looks like we will be saving $80 per month- and that is with the new car added. So if you are trying to save money you might want to call around - you, too, might find out that you can save money with just switching insurance companies. I am thrilled - especially since my son is only getting about 32 hours a week. He REALLY need 40 hours a week to come closer to paying all of his bills. So please keep that in your prayers.

Exceedingly Abundantly Above

I tell you what, God never ceases to amaze me! He is able to do abundantly more than we could even ask or think - that is what Ephesians 3:20a tells us(see below) I have shared with you all that my son will get his daughter in July for his summer visit. Well during that visit I will be taking care of her during that time while he works and such. Well I had been thinking that I really needed a few things for outside play and so I thought I would post a little request on Facebook - that if anyone had anything they wanted to get rid of that we would be interested in it. I thought - I would rather buy from my friends and such than total strangers. Anyway my sweet Momma sent over this water table that you see in the first photo. It can be used with sand or water and also a small swimming pool. Then about a week or so after I had posted that a friend on facebook asked if we needed a jungle gym type thing with slides and I said yes we sure do - this is where the amazing part comes in...So I had always wanted to get a jungle gym type thing but the one that I had wanted was a couple of hundred dollars and with all of the stuff going on and my son not having a job for so long there was no way we could get it. So we set up a time this week end to go pick up the said jungle gym and when  saw it- I almost cried!
Do you see it in the back ground of this photo?

Well here it is!

I looked this up and to buy this brand new it was either $799. or $899. Oh my goodness! This lady had bought it for her oldest daughter when she was about 3 years old - so it would be about 15 years old. But it is in very good shape considering its age. And the little bit that she got to play out on it while my sweet granddaughter was here she loved it.
I was so blown away - what I had desired was smaller and so much less money - what God provided for us - was so much more. I am so thankful for God's watch care and providing such a great toy for my granddaughter and I am thankful for generous people that are willing to share with others and brighten their day.

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,
 Ephesians 3:20a

Choose Wisely

"I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison, Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force.
Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him" Napoleon Bonaparte

Wow! The message in this quote is so powerful. And it goes to show just one more way in which God's ways are not the ways of the world. The world uses force but God does not force anyone to love Him or to serve Him - we all have free will and it is up to us.
We can chose life or we can chose death
 it's up to us.

It's an important choice
choose wisely.
*****************************************
We are getting a nice rain shower right now- I am so thankful to God for a nice rainy morning here in the month of June! A little reprieve from the hot and humid weather we have been having.
When I woke up at 6 this morning it was 78 degrees - with this rain shower our temperatures have dropped to 69 degrees so I opened up the house and am enjoying the cooler weather and the sound of the rain.

It was a busy week end at our house. My son had his daughter and it's always a busy week end when he has her. But it is a good kind of busy.
I have a wonderful story of how God blesses us abundantly more than we could even imagine. So be sure and keep an eye out for that post. :o)

Bible Marking series...The Sanctuary

If you are new to this series - scroll down to the end of this post to get an explanation of how I use this method for Bible Marking.

Today's lesson is: The Sanctuary - S- Ex. 25:8

8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
S- Heb. 9:1-5

1 Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary. 2 For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary; 3 and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, 4 which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; 5 and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
  S- Deut. 10:4-5

4 And He wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the Ten Commandments, which the Lord had spoken to you in the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me. 5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, just as the Lord commanded me."
 S- Lev. 4:27-30

27 'If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally by doing something against any of the commandments of the Lord in anything which ought not to be done, and is guilty, 28 or if his sin which he has committed comes to his knowledge, then he shall bring as his offering a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has committed. 29 And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering. 30 Then the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour all the remaining blood at the base of the altar.
S- Lev. 16:5-33

5 And he shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats as a sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering. 6 "Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. 7 He shall take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 8 Then Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat on which the Lord's lot fell, and offer it as a sin offering. 10 But the goat on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make atonement upon it, and to let it go as the scapegoat into the wilderness. 11 "And Aaron shall bring the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull as the sin offering which is for himself. 12 Then he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before the Lord, with his hands full of sweet incense beaten fine, and bring it inside the veil. 13 And he shall put the incense on the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the Testimony, lest he die. 14 He shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 "Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat. 16 So he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins; and so he shall do for the tabernacle of meeting which remains among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 There shall be no man in the tabernacle of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, that he may make atonement for himself, for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. 18 And he shall go out to the altar that is before the Lord, and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around. 19 Then he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, cleanse it, and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. 20 "And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat. 21 Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. 22 The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness. 23 "Then Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of meeting, shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there. 24 And he shall wash his body with water in a holy place, put on his garments, come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar. 26 And he who released the goat as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp. 27 The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp. And they shall burn in the fire their skins, their flesh, and their offal. 28 Then he who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp. 29 "This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you. 30 For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the Lord. 31 It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever. 32 And the priest, who is anointed and consecrated to minister as priest in his father's place, shall make atonement, and put on the linen clothes, the holy garments; 33 then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tabernacle of meeting and for the altar, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
 S- Heb. 9:9-12

9 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience-- 10 concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
S- Heb. 8:2-5

2 a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. 3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said,
"See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."
 S- Heb. 9:23

23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
  S- Dan. 8:14

14 And he said to me, "For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed." S- END

The Pruned Branch

The Pruned Branch It is the branch that bears the fruit,
That feels the knife;
To prune it for a larger growth,
A fuller life,

Though every budding twig be lopped,
And every grace
Of swaying tendril, springing leaf
Be lost a space.

O thou, whose life of joy seems reft,
Of beauty shorn,
Whose aspirations lie in dust,
All bruised and torn,

Rejoice, though each desire, each dream,
Each hope of thine,
Shall fall and fade; it is the hand
Of love divine

That holds the knife, that cuts and breaks
With tenderest touch,
That thou, whose life has borne some fruit
May now bear much.

Drawing Nigh to God....series

Drawing Nigh to God

After This Manner Pray... "Thine Is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory"

The Lord's Prayer ends as it begins- pointing to God as our Father, who loves us and who is able and willing to grant all that we ask and more- "exceeding abundantly" more.

"Thine is the ....power." We have little conception of what this means to us personally. "Having collected the riches of the universe, and laid open the resources of infinite power, He (the Father) gives them all into the hands of Christ, and says, All these are for man. Use these gifts to convince him that there is no love greater than Mine in earth or heaven."

"Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory." Jesus teaches that when we pray we should look beyond the evil of this world to that glad day when God's glory shall be revealed before the universe. At that time all the redeemed of the earth and all the angels of heaven shall unite in a mighty chorus, saying-
"Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever." Revelation 7:12

As we meditate upon the reality of this scene portrayed by John the revelator, do we not feel like uniting our prayer with devout Christians of all ages, saying, "Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory"?

What a Promise!

10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalms 9:10

Today has been a full day of posts. But you know what? When you learn a lot of lessons at one time - you just want to share them with others and show that God never gives us on us and that He is worthy of our trust - through the good times and through the bad times - He will not forsake us. Praise be to God!

What My Husband Taught Me

(Second post for today - don't miss the first one- it's an important lesson as well)

As you all know at the end of December - I lost my job. I had worked for my Mother in Law at her store/bakery. I loved my job. Most of the year I only had to work 2 -3 days a week. Around holidays I worked a lot more. So basically I was just on an as needed basis on top of my normal responsibilities.
Since I have lost my job - I have struggled a bit with the pressure that I guess the world puts on me or maybe it is something that some how I was taught growing up, or maybe the media. The pressure that I am feeling is like in order to be of value- I must work.

Well right now it is best that I don't work - there are several reasons but the biggest of those is that some time during the summer(probably the month of July) my son will have his daughter for the month and I will need to take care of my sweet granddaughter. It is a great privilege to be able to be available to help my family out when needed. And I am so very grateful.

So now we get to how my husband taught me about Salvation. He does not realize how much of a lesson I learned from him but I really needed to understand this lesson. As I have shared in the past - that I have always felt like I had to be "good enough" to be loved, to be accepted...you get the idea. Well this deficiency in character ran even deeper and caused other negative side effects you could say.

I'll give you an example. Way back in 1997 when my boys were 5 and 7 a wonderful thing happened for my family! Something that had I not have this defect of character I could have fully appreciated and enjoyed. It was a free trip to Disney World. We had to pay for food and souvenirs but other than that everything was paid for. How did we get so lucky? Well as you know my MIL owned a convenience  store and Star Telegram was doing a special promotion - they had several customers that won these packages and then they did a contest for their business - what ever businesses that had the biggest increase in sales during a certain time period would win this trip to Disney World. Well my MIL won a set of 4 free tickets. What a wonderful unexpected surprise or my family. We were poor - there is no way we could have ever afforded a trip like that - but Praise the Lord!! He worked this out and I should have been thrilled. Oh I was thrilled but I felt guilty. It was like I was afraid to tell of this blessing because I did not deserve it. Tears come to my eyes now as I tell you about this - just like tears were coming to my eyes earlier this week when my husband taught me (in a round about way) about salvation and how it is a free gift.

A couple of weeks ago - we got an advertisement in the mail from Chevrolet- basically we would get a $50.00 gift card if we were to go to a local Chevy place and test drive a 2014 Impala and a 2013 Malibu. Well the beginning of last week we went and did the test drive. The sales guy was wonderful and we had a great time. My husband and I had talked about after about December of this year we would probably be looking into buying a new vehicle. Well since our test drive - we started investigating a few things and after finding ways to save money - by changing insurance companies and getting a new credit card(our old one had Capital One take over and they proceeded to (pardon my language but screw us over- so we got with our credit union and got a new credit card with lower interest rate and therefore saving us money now and in the future).  Well after we did all of this my husband decided he wanted to get more serious about looking for a car and he got on the internet and found some really good deals. So we started doing more test drives. Then my husband told me that it was going to be my car and that I got to decide what I wanted. Well I told him that I just felt like since I did not work that I did not deserve a new car- and he said there are many women out there that don't work that have gotten new cars. He said it was something he liked being able to do for me. That just melted my heart and I just was overwhelmed with emotion and a deeper understanding of God's love for me(us as people) He loved us so much He was willing to lay down His life for us - not because we deserved it but because of His awesome love for us!!

After we figured out the other ways of saving money - we also decided we would keep my Malibu when we got a new vehicle and that way my husband can start driving it to work instead of his big dodge truck- saving us a good amount of money in gas- at least $30- if not a whole lot more per week. He drives a pretty big Dodge truck - 2500. And so it uses quite a bit of gas. So it will be great to have him using a more fuel efficient car. The fill up each week will be less painful. And that is great since this is the part of the year when our electric bill is higher and that makes things pretty tight around here.

So just like I had to learn(and still have to learn) that God's love is unconditional and that I don't have to earn it - I have learned that His salvation is free - and ALL I have to do is accept it and allow Him into my heart and give Him control of my life. He then guides and directs me in the way I should go and as I allow Him to mold me and shape me - I begin to resemble Him more and more... Praise the Lord for loving me so much and giving me the gift of salvation - even though I don't deserve either. I am blessed.

And this is what he brought home:

We love it! Praising God for the blessings of the wisdom of checking into the information that we checked into that made this purchase possible! And so thankful for the lesson it taught me. I won't forget it- in fact, I think that every time I look at this car or get into it - I will remember how much God loves me and about His free gift. He knew I needed to learn this lesson. During the last year, there have been things going on that have caused me to question if God even loved me. And know because of this lesson - I know. Praise the Lord!!

Sorry it took me so long to get this photo fixed - I got side tracked with a phone call and totally forgot about it until I happen to be working in the room with this computer. Anyway here is a better photo. -not the teaser that it ended up being earlier. lol :O)

Thanks Susan for this verse - it is a great one for this post! :O)

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:11

Another Lesson Learned

I just found out that a man from our church died last night. He had cancer- I had no idea. This man was always so friendly and kind. Went out of his way to make people feel welcome at church. This is a very good example that we are all struggling with something and we can let it make us bitter or we can choose to keep our focus on Jesus and continue to love our fellow man just like Jesus- not only told us to do but lived it out in His own life. This man will be missed and I am a better person for knowing him and for learning this lesson.

28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" 29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:28-31

What a Promise is be a bit later - a verse has not popped out at me yet.

Waiting

“Waiting! Yes, patiently waiting!
Till next steps made plain will be;
To hear, with the inner hearing,
The voice that will call for me.

Waiting! Yes hopefully waiting!
with hope that need not grow dim;
The Master is pledged to guide me,
and my eyes are unto Him.

Waiting! Expectantly waiting!
Perhaps it may be today
The Master will quickly open
the gate to my future way.

Waiting! Yes, waiting! still waiting!
I know, though I’ve waited long,
That, while He withholds His purpose,
His waiting cannot be wrong.

Waiting! Yes, waiting! still waiting!
The Master will not be late;
Since He knows that I am waiting
For Him to unlatch the gate.”

Sometimes the Answer is "Wait"

Have you noticed how many times it says "to wait upon the Lord" in the Bible? Well there is a good reason for that.

Well as you all know that my son is looking for a job. This has been a long hard road for him and us. His divorce is final - except the problem is that the ex has not signed the papers yet so there is a chance that they might have to go back to court - to find out why she hasn't. That is all a mess- never heard of a judge finalizing a divorce and then someone not signing. But that is not where I was going with this post.

My son is still looking for a job. I had thought that after the divorce was finalized and he could focus more fully on looking for a job that he would find one, but still no job. I have been praying about this for a long time now- 5 months. Well truth be told I have been praying earlier than that - because when he worked for my MIL he needed a better job. Anyway so for a long time I have been praying. It gets discouraging to pray about something for a long time and not see an answer. I have other long term prayers - one I've been praying about for over a year now. But this job one is one that I can talk about. Anyway it just seems like I pray and I have faith that God can and will answer the prayer when the time is right, but nothing seems to happen. I get a bit discouraged but I am still choosing to trust. God's timing is perfect. Sometime we don't understand God's timing - but we can trust that if we surrender our lives to Him and allow Him to do His work in us that His will - will eventually happen. Sometimes His answer is "wait" and we have to learn to trust His "wait." He loves us and wants what is best for us and sometimes the waiting will result in what is best for us. So till the answer comes - continue to pray and continue to stand. Stand on God's Word!

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

The promise for those who wait upon the Lord:

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

When I wrote this post - I had quite a few other posts that I had written and wanted to get posted so this one stayed as a draft. And as I was just looking over what I have as drafts - I realized I needed to update this and get it posted -hoping it will encourage someone else.

My son finally found a job. Only draw back at this point is for the first few weeks he does not get full time hours. And truth is with all of his bills and with how much he is being paid - starting out- he needs full time hours in order to pay his bills. But we are Praising the Lord!!! That he got a job. It is enjoying what he is doing and is learning as he goes. We continue to pray that God will continue to provide what is needed so that all his bills can get paid each month.

So God's answer to our prayers may be wait - but He does hear us.
Continue to Stand on God's Word!
